TUSCANY TECHNOLOGICAL DISTRICT FOR NAUTICAL INDUSTRY AND PORT ACTIVITIES: MICHELA FUCILE SUCCEEDS ANDREA GIANNECCHINI AS PRESIDENT

Handover at the helm of the Tuscany Technological District for Nautical Industry and Port Activities: Michela Fucile, representing Confartigianato, succeeds Andrea Giannecchini, representing CNA, as President of the District.

A fully shared succession, provided for in the agreements between the District’s stakeholders, which above all represents a sign of continuity and cohesion within the Tuscan nautical system.

The first phase of Giannecchini’s presidency was characterised by important strategic planning, aimed at defining the main development directions for the regional nautical industry and port activities, strengthening dialogue between the production supply chain, ports, local communities, institutions, research and training.

Among the main results of this phase are the Regional Strategic Document for the Tuscan Nautical Industry and the process for the Memorandum of Understanding dedicated to the Tuscany Yachting Destination, with the aim of expanding Tuscany’s ability to generate value not only through the construction of large yachts, but throughout their entire life cycle: refit and repair, port activities, services, tourism, training, research and innovation. An approach aimed at bringing together the different excellences of the Tuscan coast and strengthening their international positioning.

“I am very satisfied with the work carried out during this first phase,” says Andrea Giannecchini. “We sought to give the District a broad strategic perspective, identifying priorities, tools and relationships capable of supporting the Tuscan nautical industry in the coming years. We have created the conditions for many of the initiatives launched to now enter their most concrete phase. For this reason, I am particularly pleased to pass the baton to Michela Fucile, confident that she will be able to continue and enrich this work with her own experience and perspective. The District belongs to the entire nautical community, and its strength lies precisely in its ability to work together, beyond individual affiliations.”

The new President, Michela Fucile, therefore takes up the baton with the aim of guiding the projects that have been developed towards their implementation phase and, at the same time, contributing her own perspective to the District’s planning, with particular attention to the manufacturing supply chain, small and medium-sized enterprises, skilled artisan trades and port activities.

“I thank Andrea Giannecchini for the work he has carried out and for the wealth of projects he leaves to this new phase,” says Michela Fucile. “I take up this responsibility with a strong sense of commitment and with the desire to ensure continuity with what has been built, while naturally also bringing my own contribution and vision. The Tuscan nautical industry is an extraordinary supply chain, bringing together major shipyards, small and medium-sized enterprises, highly specialised artisans, port activities, services, research and training. Our task will be to increasingly transform this wealth into concrete projects and opportunities for growth for businesses and local communities.”

Also highlighting the importance of this handover is Katia Balducci, President of NAVIGO, the organisation managing the District, and President of the Nautical Section of Confindustria Toscana Nord.

“We are particularly pleased with this handover, which takes place in full compliance with the agreements and once again demonstrates the quality and maturity of the Tuscan nautical community. Andrea Giannecchini has carried out a fundamental planning phase with great commitment, and Michela Fucile now takes up the baton to guide the District towards new results. It is a form of continuity in which CNA and Confartigianato, together with the other members of the Committee, concretely demonstrate how it is possible to work in harmony, placing the interests of the supply chain and the local area at the centre. As the managing organisation, NAVIGO is at the disposal of the new Presidency and the entire Committee to ensure, as always, operational capacity and to turn shared guidelines into concrete activities and projects.”

The handover of the Presidency was unanimously approved by those present, with the support of representatives of the production sector, associations, research and the various components of the District.

A decision that confirms a governance model based on cooperation and the ability to work as a system: an essential condition for addressing the new development phase of the Tuscan nautical industry and transforming the strategies developed in recent months into concrete results for businesses, workers, ports and local communities.
