TYT, TRUE YACHTING TRAINING, IS BORN: CONTINUING EDUCATION ENTERS THE HEART OF THE YACHTING INDUSTRY

NAVIGO and the ISYL Foundation expand their commitment to training with a company dedicated to professionals, skilled workers, managers and businesses. From refit trades to new technologies, from management to professional qualifications, training programmes built around the skills required by the supply chain.
People and skills are one of the main development factors in the nautical industry. From this need comes TYT – True Yachting Training, the company that sees NAVIGO and ISYL ITS Academy involved in continuing, professional and corporate training for the nautical and yachting sectors.
TYT offers training programmes that start directly from the needs of businesses, the evolution of trades, new technologies and the changes affecting yacht production, refit, services and management. It is therefore born within the supply chain and works for the supply chain. NAVIGO’s daily relationship with shipyards, refitters, manufacturers, suppliers, marinas and professionals makes it possible to identify emerging skills, upskilling needs and new professional profiles and to transform them into training programmes.
FROM TRADES TO MANAGEMENT
The True Yachting Training offering covers different professional levels and a wide range of areas. It starts with the technical and operational skills required in shipyards, refit and yacht services and extends to specialist, managerial and executive training; with the “Artieri Academy” brand and the involvement of supply companies, the most relevant operational trades are trained, including carpenters, joiners, fitters and painters. Specialisation training programmes also include Boatmaster, Yacht Chef Master, Yacht Broker, together with programmes dedicated to the upskilling of skilled workers. These are complemented by programmes on the topics that are changing the organisation and processes of nautical companies: Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability, regulations and customs, business management, languages and public speaking. The offering also includes executive programmes aimed at managers, department heads and entrepreneurs, including programmes dedicated to the Blue and Green Economy and the management of the sustainable transition.
TRAINING AS PART OF PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
One of the central elements of the project is continuity. TYT is designed for those who want to acquire a new specialisation, but also for technicians and professionals who need to update their skills, for skilled workers called upon to work with new tools and processes, for those in charge who take on roles of greater complexity, and for managers and entrepreneurs who need to lead change within their organisations. Specialising, updating, qualifying and supporting professional growth therefore become parts of the same journey.
TRAINING BUILT WITH BUSINESSES
Alongside open courses, TYT develops programmes dedicated to individual companies. The starting point is an analysis of the skills required by roles, processes and company objectives. From this, upskilling and reskilling initiatives, specialist workshops, activities for groups and corporate functions, and executive programmes can be developed. Technicians, managers, captains, professionals, university lecturers and experts from companies participate in the design and delivery of the training activities. Training thus becomes an operational tool for addressing technological, organisational and market changes, but also for preserving and transferring that wealth of technical and manual skills that continues to play a central role in the Italian nautical industry.
A TRAINING SYSTEM COVERING THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF PROFESSIONAL LIFE
With TYT, an activity in training that has been underway for years through Fondazione ISYL – Italian Super Yacht Life ITS Academy is being expanded. It was founded in 2015 on the initiative of NAVIGO and the leading shipyards in the nautical industry. The focus is therefore on training new technical professionals through ITS programmes developed together with companies, as well as on continuing education, professional specialisation, qualifications and the development of the skills of people already working in or interested in entering the sector. This system is complemented by agreements with international academic partners for university-level programmes also aimed at entrepreneurs and captains, in collaboration with Gioya Higher Education Institution. The result is an offering that can support the entire professional journey: from entering the sector to specialisation, from skills development to managerial and entrepreneurial responsibilities.
SKILLS FOR THE ENTIRE YACHT LIFECYCLE
The training offering looks at the entire supply chain: design and construction, refit and maintenance, onboard systems and technologies, ports and services, maritime professions, logistics, digital, sustainability, management and markets. A very broad field, united by a simple principle: starting from real work and the skills that businesses need. TYT helps complete the picture of the ecosystem of the Tuscan Nautical and Port Technology District, together with NAVIGO, the service centre for the nautical industry, Fondazione ISYL ITS Academy and Marine della Toscana, the regional network of ports and marinas.
