Marialina Marcucci awarded and Pietro Angelini protagonist of the debate on yachting

Malta, 26 November 2024 – The Mediterranean Tourism Forum, taking place from 25 to 27 November at the Hilton Malta, is the event that celebrates the cultural heritage and tourism innovation of the Mediterranean, hosting over 1,500 delegates from 28 countries. Two Italian figures stand out in this year’s edition: Marialina Marcucci, President of the Viareggio Carnival, and Pietro Angelini, General Manager of NAVIGO.
Marialina Marcucci received the prestigious Mediterranean Tourism Award, in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to the promotion of Mediterranean culture. The gala ceremony, which took place on 26 November at the Intercontinental Malta, saw the award presented by the President of the Republic of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono. The evening ended with a concert by the Mediterranean Orchestra, a collection of musical sounds and instruments of the Mediterranean, conducted by Maestro Santori.

Pietro Angelini, instead, spoke on a crucial topic for the future of Mediterranean tourism: yachting as a tool to strengthen the attractiveness of coastal destinations. In his session, “Yachting Destination: innovation and opportunities for Mediterranean tourism”, sustainable development strategies, international marketing and the economic potential of the nautical industry were explored. The theme of this edition of the Forum, “Mediterranean ARTS – Amidst Rapid Transformative Shifts”, focuses on how the Mediterranean can address global challenges, from the green transition to technological and social transformations.
